Sennah Yee is presently based in Toronto while pursuing her MA in Cinema & Media Studies at York University, with a focus on Gendered Robot Design in Mainstream Media & Technology. MICRO is a chronological series of micro narratives and micro aggressions that Yee has experienced as a Chinese-Canadian, Canadian-Chinese woman. The moments that she captures are ephemeral instances where the writer’s identity is being questioned and challenged by the external world. Yee’s fleeting prose frames a series of perceived ‘harmless’ assumptions that in actuality breed frustration, resentment, woe and defeat. MICRO describes ignorance, internalized discrimination and foremost, ordinary everyday assumptions made by many non-Asian Canadians.
